Bank Transfer Betting Sites UK: The Apps Tested, and Why None Use Trustly
Rating methodology: How we rate betting apps · Last checked: September 2026 · Reviewer: [placeholder]
Nine of the 12 UK betting sites not on GamStop we tested take some form of bank route: a named bank transfer, a named UK bank such as Monzo, an online banking option, or Pay by Bank. That is most of the slate, and it is a practical option if you would rather move money straight from your account than use a card or crypto.
One thing sets these apps apart from most bank-transfer guides you will read: none of them uses Trustly. Almost every UK bank-transfer page assumes Trustly is the default modern route, so it is worth saying plainly up front that here it is not, and explaining what the apps use instead.
The data below comes from the live cashiers on funded accounts, the same hands-on testing behind every payment route we cover. None of these apps holds a UK Gambling Commission licence; they accept UK players under offshore licences from Anjouan, Curaçao and Costa Rica.

How we tested
We opened a real account on each app, funded it, and placed live bets before writing anything. Where an app took a bank route we used it and recorded how it was listed in the cashier.
Every app ran across the same six devices: Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 2 XL, Galaxy S25, Galaxy A17, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 11. Bet placement ran 19 to 21 seconds, timed on each app. At the cashier we noted which bank rails were offered, the minimums and the account currency.

Ranked by overall rating, with the bank route and one feature that stood out. Only the nine apps with a bank rail are listed.

Points from the data:
- Five apps list a named “bank transfer”: Legionbet, Basswin, Beonbet, Runa and LuckyWave. This is the manual route where you push funds from your own banking app.
- Named UK banks appear at seven apps. Monzo is the most common, then Barclays and Lloyds, all covered by the Legionbet app. Picking your bank by name is the online-banking route.
- The Runa betting site has the widest bank setup and the lowest floor at £15. The SpellWin betting site is the only app that names Pay by Bank directly.
The two kinds of bank transfer here, and no Trustly
There are two routes across these apps, and it is worth knowing which you are using.
The manual route is the named “bank transfer” option. You push the money yourself from your banking app using the details the cashier shows. It is the older, more hands-on method, and it is what the five named-transfer apps above use.
The open banking route is the named-bank and Pay by Bank options. You pick your bank, log in through your own banking app, and approve the payment. The money moves account to account with no card and no typing in a sort code by hand.
What you will not find on any of these apps is Trustly. Most UK bank-transfer guides treat Trustly as the default modern bank transfer, so if that is what you are hunting for, none of these apps offers it. They use named bank transfers, named UK banks, online banking and, at SpellWin, Pay by Bank instead.
Types of bank transfer explained
For reference, the bank routes you meet in UK betting and how they differ. Only the first three appear on these apps.
| Route | How it works | Typical speed |
|---|---|---|
| Manual bank transfer (Faster Payments) | You send funds from your banking app using the cashier’s bank details | Minutes to a few hours |
| Online banking (named bank) | You pick your bank, log in, and approve the payment | Near-instant deposit |
| Pay by Bank (open banking) | You pick your bank and approve in your banking app, account to account | Instant deposit |
| Trustly | Third-party open banking provider | Not used on these apps |
| BACS | Older UK batch transfer | Slower, up to a few working days |
The practical point: the named-bank and Pay by Bank routes are the quick ones, since they run over open banking. A manual Faster Payments transfer is still fast but asks you to enter the details yourself.
The bank gambling block
If a bank deposit is refused and your balance is fine, a bank-level gambling block is the likely cause. Most UK banks and app banks, including Monzo, offer a gambling block that stops payments to betting merchants by reading the merchant category code a business registers under. When it is on, the payment is declined at the bank, which can look like an app error rather than a bank setting.
This now reaches further than cards. Open banking providers such as TrueLayer, working with banks like Monzo, have extended gambling blocks to cover open banking payments too, so a Pay by Bank or online-banking deposit can be blocked the same way a card would be. Turning a bank gambling block off is usually deliberately slowed, often with a cooling-off delay of a day or two, so it is not an instant switch. If a bank deposit to one of these apps fails, check your banking app’s gambling block first.
Minimums and withdrawals
Bank minimums and payout times from the cashiers we captured.
| App | Min deposit | Withdrawal time |
|---|---|---|
| Runa | £15 | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| Legionbet | £20 | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| Beonbet | £20 | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| LuckyWave | £20 | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| WinWinter | £20 | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| Daytonaspin | £10 or £20 (being confirmed) | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| Basswin | €20 | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| Spinpolo | €20 | 1 to 3 business days, free |
| SpellWin | Not captured | 1 to 3 business days, free |
Two things worth knowing. Every bank withdrawal here is closed-loop: the money returns to the same account you deposited from, so you cannot cash out to a different account. And your first withdrawal is usually slower, because the app runs a one-time identity check before releasing funds. Runa has the lowest floor at £15; the rest sit at £20 or €20.
Currency and limits
Most apps run GBP cashiers, so a bank transfer in sterling is a like-for-like payment. Three run euro cashiers: Basswin, Spinpolo and SpellWin. A sterling bank transfer into those is converted, and how much that costs depends on your bank’s rate rather than the app.
Bank routes generally suit larger, planned deposits better than a quick card top-up, but the minimums here are low, from £15 to £20, so they work for small stakes too.
How to deposit by bank transfer
- Open the app’s cashier and choose the bank option: named bank transfer, your bank by name, or Pay by Bank.
- For a named bank or Pay by Bank, pick your bank and approve the payment inside your own banking app. No card details are entered.
- For a manual bank transfer, send the funds from your banking app using the sort code and account details the cashier shows.
- If a deposit is refused, check your bank’s gambling block before trying again. Deposits confirm within minutes on the open banking routes.
How to withdraw by bank transfer
- Open the cashier, choose withdraw, then the bank option.
- The payout is closed-loop, so it returns to the same account you deposited from. You cannot send it elsewhere.
- Have ID ready for a first withdrawal. Offshore apps commonly run a one-time identity check before releasing a payout.
- Confirm. The app quotes 1 to 3 business days for the funds to land.
Can you claim a bonus by bank transfer?
Whether a bank deposit earns a bonus depends first on whether the app has a sports offer at all, since several run casino-only headlines.
- Genuine sports welcome among the bank-rail apps: Beonbet (100% up to £150, gentle 5x wagering), SpellWin (100% free bet up to €100, 5x), Basswin (150%). Legionbet and LuckyWave give free bets after a qualifying bet.
- Reload, not welcome: Runa offers up to £100 weekly on sports.
- No sports welcome: Spinpolo, Daytonaspin and WinWinter advertise casino slots packages that do not apply to sports betting, with cashback and VIP perks instead.
Read the offer terms before depositing, since some offers exclude specific deposit methods.
Safety and privacy
The bank routes themselves are among the safer ways to move money. With open banking, you approve each payment inside your own banking app using the same login your bank already uses, and the app never sees or stores your banking password. A manual Faster Payments transfer is the standard UK bank rail that moves money between accounts every day. Closed-loop payouts add a layer too, since winnings can only return to your own account.
The important caveat is the app, not the payment. These apps are offshore and outside UKGC protection, so the safety of the bank rail does not extend to UK regulatory cover. Deposit only what you are comfortable with.
If a bank transfer is refused: other methods
If a bank deposit will not go through and the gambling block is not the cause, the same apps offer other routes. Cards (Visa or Mastercard) work at all 12 debit card betting sites, and crypto is accepted across the best crypto betting sites as well. Revolut covers eight apps and works as a debit card, so the Revolut betting sites route stays open too.
Bank transfer apps versus UKGC bookmakers
| Point | UKGC bookmakers | The bank-rail apps here |
|---|---|---|
| Bank routes | Faster Payments, open banking, often Trustly | Named transfer, Monzo, Barclays, Lloyds, online banking, Pay by Bank; no Trustly |
| Sign-up checks | Full ID before betting or cash-out | Email and password, no ID at deposit |
| Withdrawal time | Often 24 to 48 hours plus checks | 1 to 3 business days quoted |
| GAMSTOP self-exclusion | Mandatory | Not integrated |
| Dispute recourse | UKGC plus ADR | Offshore licence only |
| Currency | Sterling | GBP at most, euros at three |
The lighter checks come at the cost of UK regulatory protection. There is no GAMSTOP integration and no Alternative Dispute Resolution route.
Is it safe
These apps sit outside the UKGC framework, so there is no GAMSTOP, no enforced deposit limit and no affordability check. The strongest control on your side is the bank gambling block covered above, which now stops both card and open banking payments to betting merchants. It is worth turning on if you want a hard brake at the bank.
If gambling is affecting your money, your mood or the people around you, support is free and confidential through GamCare and BeGambleAware.
Legal and responsible gambling
18+. Moving money straight from your bank makes deposits feel routine, so a deposit limit set inside the app matters more than the method you pick. These sites sit outside GamStop, so that registration will not block them; per-app caps and independent blocking software are what hold, and our responsible gambling page covers both, plus self-exclusion.
- UK availability: nine of the 12 apps take a bank route; all 12 accept UK players.
- Licensing: offshore (Anjouan, Curaçao, Costa Rica). None hold a UKGC licence.

Bank transfer betting apps: quick answers
Which betting apps accept bank transfer?
Nine of the 12 we tested: Legionbet, Basswin, Beonbet, Runa, LuckyWave, Spinpolo, Daytonaspin, WinWinter and SpellWin. Gambiva, Wildzy and Prestige Spin do not.
Do any of these apps use Trustly?
No. None of them uses Trustly. They use named bank transfers, named UK banks such as Monzo, online banking, and at SpellWin, Pay by Bank.
Why was my bank deposit declined?
Usually a bank gambling block. Most UK banks and app banks offer one, and it now covers open banking payments as well as cards. Check your banking app’s gambling block, and note there is often a cooling-off delay of a day or two before turning it off takes effect.
How long do bank transfer withdrawals take?
Every app quotes 1 to 3 business days. Withdrawals are closed-loop, so the money returns to the same account you deposited from.
Are the accounts in pounds or euros?
Most are in GBP. Basswin, Spinpolo and SpellWin run euro cashiers, where a sterling bank transfer is converted.
What is the lowest bank deposit?
Runa at £15. Most others sit at £20 or €20.
Is bank transfer safe for betting?
The bank rail itself is safe, especially the open banking routes where the app never sees your banking login. The apps, though, are offshore and outside UKGC protection, so weigh that before depositing.
